KOSTRZYN - WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL 2015

Only 3 days and only 2 day on my land
POLAND
Let me introduce
WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL

LOVE, PEACE, FUN

I have to write here true about that great project, because I can not be reconciled with the opinion prevails among the public that Woodstock is only drugs, drunk people and dirt.

But let's start from history. Only a little bit :]

The original Woodstock festival
(Woodstock Music and Art Fair ) took place in 1969 on  M.Yasgura farm in Bethel city near New York. Its slogan was:
"Peace, Love and Happiness"

During the sometimes rainy weekend 32 acts performed outdoors before an audience of 400,000 young people. It is widely regarded as a pivotal in popular music history. Rolling Stone listed it as one of the 50 moments that changed the history of rock an roll.

Woodstock was designed as a profit- making venture. Tickets for the three-day event cost 18$ in advance and 24$ at the gate.
It famously became a "free concert" only after the event drew hundreds of thousands more patrons than the organizers had prepared for.

Woodstock became the symbolic culmination of many trends in rock music, but also an icon of flower children generation - customs and culture of the 60s. Symbolized the era of hippies.

Deep in my heart I have the same feelings:
Peace. Love. Happiness.
Primarily NO WAR!!!

What we have in Poland is called Woodstock stop.

This amazing man is responsible for everything! And his name is Jerzy Owsiak

First he organized another Big project called
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity

And Woodstock Stop is officially organized by this foundation.

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is a philanthropic foundation whose primary goal of the statute is' activity in the field of health protection by saving sick people, especially children, and action to improve their health, as well as action on health promotion and preventive care ".
And this organization really supports National Healthcare in Poland. Every year they collect money by volunteers walking by the streets with special box:

Also they trying to sell everything. Lot of famous people give gifts at auctions. That ONE day is big event as well. That day people opening their harts and (lets be honest) wallets because they know that money will go for specialized machines to save children life, one day that machine can save his child life.

But lets go back to main subject

In principle, this event is a thank you to the volunteers for their work during the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. The festival is entirely free for spectators.

The idea to organize the festival appeared in 1994, when the US was held again after 25 years, another Woodstock. Since 2004 Woodstock Festival takes place in Kostrzyn in Lubuskie, previous editions took place in Czymanowo (1995), Szczecin (1996), Zary (1997-1999, 2001-2003) and Lebork

The whole event is divided into 4 scenes:

Big Stage

Small Stage

The Krishna Tent Stage:

and Acadamy of the finest arts

It happens at the turn of July and August.

Concerts starting 4 pm every day. During the day they prepared many attractions to fill your time. I will admit that many people drink lot of alcohol while all festival, but you have possibility to use this time as best :)

Like I did :]

If you will go to Academy you can learn about the many foundations, associations and support organizations.

There you can talk with interesting people who love to help.
And you can play with them on drums, guitar.

After this you can go to next tent. my favorite <3

Here you can take part in an interview with the awesome character.
I realized now that they talking in Polish but on the list of interviews may be traveler from abroad. Always you can check that on web before all event.

You don't like here, lets go to Himalayan camp. If you like to do some exercise you will enjoy this area.

What I tried:

Climbing on wall. First, for your safety, you should register yourself in information next to this attraction. Then you can go :)
of course Crazy me did not know about that and also I started to talk with support personnel and they forgotten to ask me about registration :)
And then I stood by the wall, in that moment I remembered that I have a fear of heights ;]
again fight with me.
When I reached the top and had to perform the last movement
fear paralyzed me. It was not that high and I did worse things in my life but fear is still fear. That mean I still have self-control :)
So I asked support fellow to show me that he hold me :) then I reached top :))))
When I went down my whole body was shaking, a specially hands.
As I said it is not high, try if you will be sober :PPP

Simple line and it looks so easy but No no no....
I did only few steps and I tried twice. It is really challenge and lot of fun. There were two lines, shorter and longer. You have to try that!!
My friend tried this as well and he was better then me :)

In this camp staff organizes competitions with prizes. Like in school :)
what else....?

In my way back to tent I passed GREENPEACE camp

I did not go in but I am sure that in this place you can find out all about saving the environment and about actions for saving ecology.
You have to try I write me what you find out there. I'm waiting or we will see next year :)
Also I only passed special bus to measure blood pressure. I'm telling you, there is everything!!

Next BIG attraction and education

HARE KRISHNA

I met this only in Woodstock.

First what Hare Krishna is.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness, know colloquially as the Hare Krishna Movement or Hare Krishnas, is a Gaudiya Vaishnava religious organisation.

Members must abide by four regulative principles, in relation to the four legs of Dharma as the basis of the spiritual life:
  • no eating of meat (including fish) or eggs
  • no illicit sex: only between married couples and only for the procreation of children
  • no gambling
  • no intoxicants (including alcohol, caffeine, tobacco and other recreational drugs).

The four legs of Dharma are:

  • DAYA: mercy
  • TAPAS: self-control or austerity
  • SATYAM: truthfulness (playing and games keeping/for money and/or things)
  • ĹšAUCAM: cleanliness of body and mind

More information you can find here

In that area you can feel exceptional atmosphere. That movie showing a lot :)
So you can start dance with them any time!!!

This organisation it very open for conversation, they want to listen you if you have some problem or if you just interested of themes they are specialize in.

Like :

vegetarianism and reincarnation
yoga

Books
Questions & Answers
make-up and exhibition
and many more...

Also they prepare own special food:

Halawa (banana bullet)

lentils Dal

Chips

Rise

Meal like that costs 8 zlotych (1,3 GBP)

If you would like to try healthy Krishna food you can find recipes here:

http://food.krishna.com/

Also they have unique mode of transportation:) In my opinion that wagon is a symbol of that group

Woodstock is a place were you can do whatever you want. There is no security. Any crazy idea is accepted as long it is not dangerous for others. You can wear whatever you want or wear nothing.

Everybody are open to friendly talk.
I know it's about alcohol, but many times alcohol make people aggressive, in Woodstock there is only peace and love. Drunk people know about that as well.

Crazy idea to hang beer cans :)

My friends have done a special banner with the name of my family city LAZISKA GORNE

This Festival is a place were you can meet lot of crazy, funny, simply -  nice people.
It easy to start talk because you always have something in common with those people like love to music.

Ludwig from Germany

I love that girl :]

She looks like some movie star :)

Unfortunately  I don't remember their names. I'm looking forward to hearing from them :)
These girls are from Netherlands.
In response to my question "How English looks among polish people?"
They said that it's really good a specially young people. Also they said that they love this festival, this is not their first time.

here you have some more photos

I always wants to be objective and I will not hide the truth.
Woodstock means lot of dirtiness, rubbish, shit everywhere.
Toi Toi are always full and there is queue all the time. There is an  unusual smell you have to get use to.
And special area for wash yourself:

My dirty feet :)

Beyond all these attractions for me the most important was to see my friends from Poland. I really miss them every day but this is the price for better life.
